Newsletter system for your website

Keep the list. Respect the invitation.

Turn a clear permission into a dependable route back to your business. A focused signup, list, template, sending and unsubscribe setup is provisionally £300 - £600.

No Ernest fee per subscriber. Delivery-provider, writing and campaign-management costs remain separate.

Why a signup box is not the system

The address is easy. The promise is the work.

A newsletter box is easy to draw. The working system must prove why each address is there, keep enquiries and service messages separate from marketing, deliver from an authenticated domain, remove people promptly and survive the next provider or website change.

Purpose

Customer becomes subscriber

A booking or enquiry is silently reused for marketing.

Delivery

The web server becomes a bulk sender

Ordinary hosting and business mail inherit avoidable load and reputation risk.

Evidence

Nobody knows why the address is there

An old spreadsheet has no wording, source or current preference.

Measurement

An open becomes a sale

Proxy activity is reported as business impact without a completed action.

Own the relationship, use the right courier

Your list on the website. Delivery through a named route.

Useful for a restaurant, hotel, salon, event, shop or service business with a real reason to contact previous customers again. The list can stay under the business’s control while a specialist delivery provider handles volume and inbox delivery.

Owning the list does not mean hiding the sender. The proposal names every processor, export, retention rule and cost.

Your website

Contacts, evidence and suppression

No Ernest price step when the subscriber count grows.

Delivery provider

Authenticated sending and bounce events

May charge for contacts, messages or volume.

Subscriber

Relevant message and a clear exit

Replies and preferences return to an owned route.

A focused first build

Permission to inbox. Every handoff tested.

The website records the stated choice and its source, confirms the address where appropriate, builds an approved audience, sends through a suitable authenticated route, and writes every opt-out to a suppression record checked before another campaign.

01

Signup and evidence

Specific wording, active choice, source, time and confirmation behaviour.

02

List and preferences

Active, pending, bounced and suppressed states with safe export.

03

Template and sender

Responsive email, plain fallback, identity, contact route and domain authentication.

04

Unsubscribe and reports

Working body link, provider headers, suppression, bounce handling and useful outcomes.

Permission does not guarantee the inbox

Authenticate the sender. Make leaving easy.

Current Gmail guidance expects authentication for all senders and adds SPF, DKIM, DMARC alignment and one-click unsubscribe requirements for high-volume marketing senders. A small list still benefits from the same disciplined foundation.

SPFWhich servers may send
DKIMA signed message from the domain
DMARCAlignment, policy and reports
LeaveVisible and one-click routes where required
ReactBounces, complaints and replies handled

Proof without a pretend campaign result

Email engineering exists. Newsletter evidence stays honest.

There is no named newsletter campaign case study in the current Work library. JoinedInbox is adjacent evidence: a React and Node unified email system used by 15 small businesses. It proves email-product work, not this page’s consent or campaign outcome.

02Duplicate signupOne preference record, no duplicate send.
03UnsubscribeNo login, no delay, next audience excludes it.

Provisional newsletter setup price

A small build with the whole lifecycle.

The quote confirms the list source, wording, confirmation, template, sender, delivery provider, unsubscribe, migration and tests before work begins.

Delivery providers may charge by contacts, messages or volume. Ongoing writing, design and sending are separate unless a care proposal includes them.

Before building the list

Newsletter system questions.

Does the subscriber list stay on my website?

It can. The focused build can keep the working contact, consent and suppression records on your hosting with no Ernest charge per subscriber. A delivery provider may still process the selected addresses and message when sending, so its location, contract, retention and pricing are shown in the proposal.

Can I add everyone who has booked, bought or contacted me?

Not automatically. A service message and direct marketing are different purposes. Consent is the clearest route for new subscribers. The PECR soft opt-in can apply to certain existing-customer situations only when all its conditions are met, including a collection-time opt-out and an opt-out in every later message.

Is double opt-in legally required for a UK newsletter?

PECR does not simply state that every email list must use double opt-in. Confirmation is still useful for proving the address works and reducing mistaken or malicious signups. The build chooses a proportionate confirmation route and keeps evidence of the wording, source and time.

Will campaigns send from ordinary website hosting?

Usually not. The website can own the list and campaign workflow, while an appropriate email delivery service handles bulk sending. That protects the main website and ordinary business mailbox from avoidable load and reputation problems. Sender authentication and provider ownership are agreed first.

Does the setup include writing and sending every newsletter?

No. The £300 to £600 range is for a focused system setup and first working template or flow. Ongoing campaign planning, writing, design and sending are separate work. They can be handled by the business, quoted when needed, or included only where a care proposal says so.

Can I measure opens, clicks and sales?

Clicks and completed website actions can be measured when the chosen privacy and analytics approach supports them. Open tracking is less dependable and may use tracking pixels, so it is not treated as a precise readership figure or enabled without a clear decision. Replies, bookings, orders and unsubscribes often tell the more useful story.

Bring the list source and one real update

Earn the next direct visit. Keep the exit obvious.

Show Ernest where addresses come from, what people should expect and what a useful campaign should lead to. You will get a clear setup and provider boundary before any list is imported.
